Witch Twist is a Technique in the first Bayonetta and the sequel. It is an aerial attack that is designed to launch small or staggered enemies airborne and is purchasable from the Gates Of Hell.

Usage[]

While holding down the dodge and punch buttons at the same time, Bayonetta drops to her knees and spins on the ground before suddenly twisting and launching herself skyward. If the button is held down, she can also fire her guns into the air while twisting.

In the first Bayonetta, a Wicked Weave will also help to launch enemies if there are at least three orbs on the magic gauge. Witch Twist can also be used with nearly any weapon for a particularly damaging effect. In Bayonetta 2, Bayonetta automatically uses Love Is Blue for Witch Twist regardless of what weapon she has equipped on her hands and she is unable to summon a Wicked Weave.

Other Appearances[]

Super Smash Bros.[]

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Witch Twist is Bayonetta's up special move. It functions more like Witch Strike from Bayonetta 2, as it skips the grounded spinning section, acting as a good launching technique for enemies and also allowing Bayonetta to shoot whilst she twists. As with most of her abilities, Witch Twist allows Bayonetta to chain other attacks such as After Burner Kick immediately after a successful hit.

Witch Twist's greatest feature, however, is in aerial recovery. After performing it, Bayonetta can immediately jump and then perform another Witch Twist to reach great heights, making it extremely useful after being knocked off the edge of a stage nearly off. In Ultimate, it grants much less height and is also easier to escape, which makes it much harder for Bayonetta to score KO’s off the top of the stage.
