Le Chéile i bhForaois Sholas na Gealaí, (Together in the Moonlit Forest in English) is the main theme of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. The song was composed by Hitomi Kurokawa, orchestrated by John R. Graham, with lyrics written by Michael McGlynn and performed by his daughter Lauren McGlynn.

Unlike past vocal themes for the Bayonetta series, Le Chéile is sung in the Irish language. The lyrics reflect the journey Cereza takes alongside Cheshire when exploring Avalon Forest and her emotions as she goes.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon[]

Le Chéile is used as the main title theme for Bayonetta Origins and makes a full appearance as the music for the credits where Cereza ballet dances with the shades of other characters such as Morgana, Jeanne, and Rosa.

Irish[]

I lár na hoíche, gealach lonrach
Aduantas rúnda, dorcha, ársa
Caillte is tuirseach, aonarach uaigneach
Scáth ag fásadh im' chroí

Cad é an té sin idir na craobha
Ollphéist nó aosán, aosán ghránna?
Feicim cat fiáin, piscín draíochta
Fuacht ag fásadh im' chroí

Fada ó mo ghaolta, fágtha i m'aonar
Mothúcháin rúnach ag teacht 's ag méadú
An namhaid nó cara é mo chaomhnaí?
An féidir liom an neart ‘tá uaim a aimsiú?

Cad é an té sin 'n achrann na coille
Amhailt nó taibhse, síog diongna?
Níl aon creideamh ann im’ shúile
Muinín ag fásadh im' chroí
I measc na coillte, scaipeadh drúchta
Cara mo chéile, piscín fíochmhar
Taobh le taobh, comhaontach le chéile
Níl mé fágtha liom féin

Sracadh leis an saol, ag sracadh le chéile
Mothúcháin rúnach ag teacht 's ag éalú
Braithim anfa 'g eirí níos measa
Mothaím an chumhacht 'tá ionaim ag méadú

I lár na hoíche, gealach lonrach, ('níl mé fágtha liom féin)
Cara mo chéile, piscín allta (mo chara allta)
Imní ag éalú, ag éalú
Níl mé fágtha liom féin

Sian na gaoithe faoi loinnir na réalta,
níl mé fágtha, fágtha liom féin''
Fada ó mo ghaolta bhí mé i m'aonar
Mothúcháin rúnach ag teacht 's ag éalú
Ach mar gheall ar ár scaradh óna chéile
Mothaím an t-uaigneas ‘tá ionam ag ardú

Fada ó mo ghaolta.
I measc na coillte beidh mé fágtha liom féin

Caillte im' chroí. Titeann na deora

English[]

In the middle of the night, shining moon,
A strange, mysterious feeling, dark, ancient
Lost and weary, alone and lonely
Fear growing in my heart.
What is that thing in the branches
Is it a monstrous serpent or an evil faerie, an ugly evil faerie?
I see a wild cat, a magic kitten
Hesitation is growing in my heart

Far from my family, left alone
Mysterious feelings coming and increasing
Is my companion friend or foe?
Can I find the power that is within me?

What is this thing in the tangled undergrowth
Monster or ghost, unnatural faerie?
I cannot trust my eyes
Confidence growing in my heart
In the woods, scattering the dew
Friend of my heart, ferocious kitten
Side by side, allied together
I am not left alone

Struggling with the world, struggling together
Mysterious feelings coming and going
I feel a storm becoming much worse
I feel the power within becoming greater
In the middle of the night, shining moon, (...I am not alone)
Friend of my heart, wild kitten (...my wild friend)
Anxiety fleeing, fleeing
I am not left alone

The wind whistles under the shimmering stars
I am not left alone

Far from my family, I was alone
Mysterious feelings coming and going
But because of our parting from each other
I feel the sadness within me increasing

Far from my family
In the woods I will be left alone

Lost within my heart. The tears fall

Trivia[]

  • Hitomi Kurokawa had previously provided music efforts to Bayonetta 2 and other PlatinumGames projects. She was approached to create the theme for Bayonetta Origins by supervising director Hideki Kamiya who wished the song to "tell the story from beginning to end". It was decided early on for the song to be sung in a Celtic language to reflect Cereza's origins as a witch growing up in Europe.[1]
  • Michael McGlynn is the founder of the choral ensembles ANÚNA and M’ANAM and is well known for composing vocal music that uses the Irish language.[2] Lauren McGlynn is the youngest member of ANÚNA and is also part of her own vocal group Systir.[3]
