Dodge is one of the first techniques that players are taught how to use in the first game, Bayonetta. It activates Witch Time when executed at the last possible second, with the exception in ∞ Climax mode, where Witch Time is removed. Dodge can be performed either with its own button (Right Trigger), or with the Jump button and Left Stick when Locked On to an enemy.

Bayonetta is completely immune to a majority of enemy attacks while using Dodge; she can purchase the technique's aerial variant from Rodin at The Gates of Hell once collecting the right amount.

Trivia

  • While Bayonetta can only use Dodge five consecutive times before she becomes vulnerable once again to enemy attacks, Jeanne however can dodge non-stop, as the only way to trigger her Witch Time is by using Moth Within.
