What if Bayonetta 4 was an extremely difficult video game like that for Nintendo to censor for an unnamed Nintendo Switch successor in its attempt to ensure its Mature rating for the ESRB because of containing extremely explicit graphic and realistic violence like that? What do you think might happen?

And I'm not talking in gameplay or logically. For as long as I've known Bayonetta, I always thought Witch Time slowed down time in the environment. But apparently, it doesn't, instead it speeds up the user? I looked for official sources that specify that, but I can't find any, even the entry in Antonio's notebook about it is kind of vague to me. Hell, even in SSB when Bayo uses Witch Time, it's the opponent that is slowed, it even has a clock to indicate! This is a dumb question, but let me know what you think.
So…I just came to a realization that is now EATING at me and I have to know the answer; at which point in time is Bayonetta 1 placed? I had been under the impression that it took place between the 2000s and 2010s, but after reading this quote from Rosa in Bayonetta 2 "It's been twenty years since I last saw you…” and doing some math, I am questioning EVERYTHING.
To explain, I was never sure of when the Witch Hunts took place, so I assumed that because of the very ‘modern’ architecture and technology in the present day, that Bayonetta awoke from her coffin somewhere in the 1980s or 90s, so that 20 years later, Bayonetta 1 take places in the 2000s/2010s, and it adds up well enough with the type of fashion and technology that we see.
But here’s where that quote from Rosa bothers me, she mentions that it has been 20 years since she’s seen Balder, and we know they were separated shortly after Cereza’s birth. Cereza was born in 1411, so 1411 + 20 = 1431. Rosa says this quote during the Witch Hunts, which means that the Witch Hunts occurred in 1431. Remember, Cereza is sealed away in a coffin for 500 years after the Witch Hunts, and I assumed she awakened between the 1980s/90s; but here’s the thing, 1431 + 500 = 1931. Yeah…this suggests that Bayonetta awakened in 1931, but the events of Bayo 1 occur 20 years after she awakens, so 1931 + 20 = 1951. This means Bayo 1 takes place in 1951…BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
As mentioned before, the fashion and technology within the games is very ‘modern’ by our standards, look no further than the intro of Bayo 2. Although, I had always noticed that the fashion sense of characters like Luka and Enzo is very “old-timey” by our standards, with vests and fedoras and coats. (Not saying these clothes can’t be worn in the 2000s/2010s, but it does make them stand out.) These clothes however could apply to the 1940s/50s, I checked and the style is pretty close. Heck, even the models of their cars could resemble models of that time period. So, is Bayonetta 1 accurately placed in 1951? The answer to that is…NO.
There's one thing that prevents this from being the case, and that is Bayonetta 2! Supposedly, Bayo 2 is a direct sequel to Bayo 1, but that doesn't make sense if the first game happened in 1951, again, because of the fashion and technology! It's very 2000s/2010s, and I don't think the games are that far apart in time (otherwise mortal characters would be very old or dead).
So in my opinion, this 'inaccuracy' actually supports Bayo 1 and Bayo 2 being separate universes, as implied in Bayo 3. It's not weird if they take place in different time periods, since there doesn't seem to be a consistent passage of time throughout the Multiverse. For example, the B2 Universe seems to take place in ancient China, but I haven't played the game so correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyways, that's my analysis on the historical placement of Bayonetta 1 and the Witch Hunts, and my brain hurts. Either I'm completely missing something, I'm overthinking, or this a massive oversight on the timeline.
(Y'know, I could just be overthinking, as I've realized that the Bayonetta series isn't one for historical accuracy. I mean, we got the Umbra Witches wearing tight bodysuits in the 15TH CENTURY, and also Rosa singing Fly Me to the Moon, which irl is a 1954 song. So maybe in this universe technology just advanced much quicker than our own)
Does anyone have any recommended weapons to fight Rodin in Bayonetta 3?
I wonder if the Homunculi Page will get updated with artwork and images of the scroll introductions or is it too soon to think such things? I ask just from comparing it to the Angels of Paradiso and Infernal Demon faction pages 😅
TBH I am fascinated by this 3rd faction of enemies because despite not being Angel or Demon, I like their design quite a bit and they give off a sort of Asura's Wrath vibes due to their designs seem to be based off Buddhism and Journey to the West Jade Heavens iconography.
Why was the official page for Bayonetta (the character) deleted and re-made?
Edit: okay, my ipad was just glitching. I found the page again :)
What happened to the angel slayer page? For me its just gone
Since we know Balder’s Panther Within is a wolf and his Crow Within is a eagle but we haven’t seen his Bat Within plus Snake Within, so I was wondering what would you think his animal forms for those two could be that would fit him?
Here are questions for fans of the Bayonetta games to answer.
Talk about whether this Bayonetta games needed the blood and gore. Couldn't Bayonetta defeat the relentless swarm of angels without showing any graphic finishing moves?
Talk about how, in Bayonetta, you play as a witch who ascended from below, and now fights against angels. Is this troubling or is exploring the evil side fascinating?
Talk about female characters in games. Can you think of some games with women who take serious matters into their own hands without relying on others for help? Were the female characters in Bayonetta objectified in any way?
Talk about the impact of violence in media. Do you feel different watching a female character fighting as opposed to a male character? Are there any reasons why you should or shouldn't feel different?
"As stated in the Book of Infernal Demons, most witches would just die at the mere attempt to summon Queen Sheba due to her being too powerful. This shows the strength and skill of Bayonetta and Jeanne working together is enough to summon Sheba as she is formed from coils of both black and white hair."
Where was this stated ingame? I just looked through the game documents and I couldn't find anything saying that, regarding Queen Sheba's files in the BOID. Unless I missed something I do not think it has been stated ever
I would like to know where you guys got this statement from.
I've looked and searched far and wide and have found nothing of a source of this "statement" from Kamiya, even looked back through all of his twitter and Twilog over the last 10+ years over and over again all of the documentaries and have never seen him state this at all and I will not believe for a second he deleted it because he never does that, so I would like to see some evidence because some people love spreading this around.
Can anyone tell me where they got the information of this here? I like to know the actual source.
- When Hideki Kamiya was asked about the relationship between Bayonetta and Luka, he simply stated: "She teases Luka; like a toy, but will never commit, he'd die long before her."
I don't doubt this as Kamiya on his Twitter has stated many times that they will never be together. Plus he has said that very emphatically on his Twitter after all those rude replies he makes towards the idea. But I want to know where the source of this came from. That's all. If anyone who worked on this page can tell me that would be great.
Can someone please help me with this. I just bought the PS3 version of Bayonetta and when I started the game no sound came out. I don't know what's causing this, I went checked every single thing in the sound settings (HDMI) and still it hasn't worked.
I really want to play this game. even if it is the shittier version. I'm using headphones.
so....the first game had the phone booth cheats, does the second game have anything similar?
(Look at the Headline) Is it usually that the level with the falling tower beginns with two persons ( BAyonetta and Jeanne][Is that really Jeanne]) ?? I saw it in Let´s Play´s
